Myofascial Unwinding
Myofascial Unwinding.
A more intuitive approach that allows your body to move spontaneously to release stored tension. During unwinding sessions, I create a safe space for your body to express its innate wisdom through natural movement patterns, helping to release both physical restrictions and emotional holding patterns.
Every session is tailored to what your body needs that day. We can focus exclusively on one technique or integrate both approaches depending on how your tissues respond. Some clients find that beginning with myofascial release to address specific restrictions followed by unwinding creates the most profound results.
Your body's needs may change from session to session, and our treatment approach will honor that journey. Many clients report that this flexible, responsive approach leads to deeper healing than either technique alone.
Listen to your body—it knows the way. I'm simply here to create the space for your natural healing process.
How Myofascial Unwinding Works
The Process
Myofascial unwinding typically follows these steps:
Creating a safe environment: Sessions take place in a quiet, comfortable space where clients can fully relax.
Initial assessment: I observe posture, movement patterns, and areas of visible tension or restriction.
Gentle initiation: The process begins with light touch or gentle pressure on key areas where fascial restrictions are present.
Supporting spontaneous movement: As your body begins to respond, I provide just enough support to follow your body's natural momentum without directing it.
Allowing expression: Your body might move in various ways - making subtle micro-movements, feeling the need to move or stretch or even subtle emotional releases and relaxation. These movements are your nervous system and fascia releasing stored patterns.
Integration: After the movement phase, there's a period of stillness where the body integrates the changes.
Who Benefits from Myofascial Unwinding
People with chronic pain conditions who haven't found relief through conventional treatments
Clients with multiple anatomical and physiological symptoms
Those recovering from injuries or surgery who need to release compensatory patterns
Individuals with posture-related issues from sedentary work or repetitive movements
Athletes looking to improve performance by optimizing fascial movement
People experiencing stress, anxiety, or trauma effects in their body
Those with unexplained symptoms that conventional medicine hasn't resolved
Anyone feeling "stuck" physically or emotionally in certain patterns
Clients who can’t tolerate work on or through the skin.
Clients that have had a stroke or head injury
Many clients find myofascial unwinding valuable when they've tried other approaches with limited success. It's particularly effective for complex conditions where physical symptoms connect with emotional or stress components.
The beauty of this approach is that it doesn't require you to "do" anything—your body leads the process, making it accessible even for those with mobility limitations or who feel disconnected from their body.
