  • Fascia is a web of soft connective tissue that weaves its way through the entire body as a 3-dimensional continuum. It surrounds and weaves between organs, muscles, bones and nerve fibres and allows all body systems to operate in an integrated manner. The fascia needs to be flexible and pliable to allow muscles, joints, circulation, hydration and nerve function to be at its optimal. 

  • Depending on the individual's overall fascial system and the tightnessess around the body will depend on how many sessions one may need to free up physical and emotional restrictions. Usually 2-3 sessions over a few months is enough to restore areas around the whole body. Everyone's maintenance after this can vary due to their lifestyle, physical demands and stress. Maintenance sessions can vary from 3 to 8 weeks. 

  • We can make the session time what works best for the individual. When we work with releasing the fascia we do not cover the entire body in one session. We can free up a whole line of fascia by releasing one restricted area. I do have some clients who have a full body session in 75 - 90 minutes as they travel to Stratford monthly. This is also ok and a nice way to still pay attention to the entire body. This can be a combination of fascia release, unwinding and therapeutic and some mobility checks during and after the session. 

  • When we work with the fascia we need to create some friction with the fascia beneath the skin without using creams or oils. This allows the fascia to be gently stretched out back to its normal state of being. This then allows the muscles, and other supporting tissues such as ligaments and tendons to be able to return to their normal length and optimal function. This also allows better circulation, recovery, nerve function, waste removal and recovery for the body. 

  • After the session most clients feel freedom of movement in areas where there has been restrictions. Some feel more alive and energetic especially after freeing up tight areas through the back, neck and head. Some may feel release but some tiredness for a day or two as it can take 2-3 days for the body to integrate some of the changes. 

    Relaxation, mobility through joints, changes in skin tone, especially stuck areas of adipose tissue.
